And the excitement gets doubled, when the new language as unique as the culture it represents. However, as time goes on we forget what motivated us to take Japanese in the first place.
Learning Japanese can be a long journey, with a bit of a steep learning curve. There will be times when we lack the willpower to keep going. It's easy to keep going with the Japanese language learning classes while you are at college or school as your routine is set to do homework, take tests and grades to achieve. If you don't keep up with your studies, you fail. Pretty decent motivation.
For people like us, who have opted Japanese for career enhancement or just to add to your skills, there aren't the same sort of consequences. You skip learning Japanese for a week and you're not punished at all. You're rewarded. Rewarded with more time to play video games, watch TV, or go out with your friends.
Keeping yourself motivated when there's so much other fun stuff to do is difficult, let us consider some points to make this task easier.
Make Japanese Your Habit
Developing Japanese learning into your habit can be the most important factor in keeping motivation. Once it becomes a part of your daily routine, you'll be much more likely to keep doing it from now until forever as it's become second nature to you, just like brushing your teeth.
To make sure you stick to this habit of studying Japanese every day. A great idea is to schedule your time. Take the 'out time' off your routine and designate that time to Japanese learning. If you're having trouble in remembering.
